Harvest Your Crop, Not The Soil.

As harvest quickly approaches, proper soil management will play an important role in your potato, sugar beet, onion and carrot harvest. ECe-X K from Helena can help you avoid removing too much soil from your fields by correcting or minimizing soil problems related to salinity and compaction. ECe-X K is a blend of polyacrylic acids that can soften up soil, reduce tare and improve leaching of salts from agricultural soils.
Typically, sodium in the soil will bind to clay platelets, allowing the clay particles to slide and create a shingle roof affect. This causes the water to run off instead of down into the soil profile. Also, when clay particles become small and compact, they don’t allow oxygen and water through, which creates clods.
When used with a thorough irrigation program, ECe-XK improves the mobility of salts, moving them down and away from plant roots. Once ECe-X K displaces sodium, calcium and magnesium can attach to clay particles and create a larger particle size capable of letting water and oxygen flow down through the profile. As the soil continues to flocculate, it builds back soil structure, regains pore continuity, restores water infiltration and improves clod reduction.
