High Yields Require More Replacement Fertilizer

High Yields Require More Replacement Fertilizer
Record High Corn and Soybean Yields require more fertilizer replacement to maintain soil test levels. Growers with soil test levels above critical levels need to maintain those soil test levels by replacing nutrients removed from production.

Those extra bushels may cost $15-$20 more per acre in additional replacement fertilizer compared to an average production year. The risk of NOT replacing those extra nutrients removed is lower soil test levels in the future. Re-building soil test levels costs more than maintaining soil test levels. It would cost an additional $20-$30 per acre to re-build those soil test levels, assuming fertilizer prices remain constant.
In addition to high yields removing phosphorus and potassium from the soil, high yielding crops also demand more Sulfur, Boron, Manganese, and Zinc. These nutrients also need to be replenished in the soil on an annual basis. ASK Fertilizer Blends will provide additional Sulfur, Boron, Manganese and Zinc in the optimum nutrient balance for maximizing yields every year. Adding those additional nutrients through an ASK Blend may cost an additional $8-$15 per acre.
