Innovation Never Stops: Collaboration That Changed Sugarcane

In the sugarcane fields of Louisiana, a growing problem was taking root. Divine nightshade — a persistent, invasive weed — began threatening yields and challenging growers across the region. But instead of facing it alone, the industry came together.

Through collaboration between Helena, LSU researchers and local sugarcane producers, innovation took shape in the field. The team’s combined research, testing and field experience led to a breakthrough solution — Trycera®, a selective herbicide designed to control tough broadleaf weeds like divine nightshade without harming the crop.

What began as a local challenge became a story of partnership and perseverance — where science, agronomy and innovation met to deliver real results. Trycera not only helped protect Louisiana’s sugarcane crop but also demonstrated what’s possible when collaboration drives discovery.

Because at Helena, innovation never stops — and neither does collaboration.
