2026 NBU Intern of the Year

Alex Roe received the 2026 Northern Business Unit Intern of the Year Scholarship Award presented by Helena Agri-Enterprises, LLC. A native of Monticello, Wisconsin, Roe is obtaining degrees in Agronomy and Agribusiness Management from the University of Wisconsin. At the University of Wisconsin, Alex is an active member of organizations such as Collegiate Farm Bureau, Badger Dairy Club, Badger Crops Club and Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. Growing up on a cash crop grain farm and commercial grain elevator, Roe plans to return to his family’s operation with his two siblings. He received a $1,000 award toward his education for his outstanding performance, enthusiasm and impact as an Helena intern.

Roe completed his internship at the Helena location in Monroe, Wisconsin, during the summer of 2026. His work required interacting with customers and prospects and assisting with agronomic and precision activities. His summer project focused on using a Helena Acre approach to optimize nitrogen investment. By Using Helena’s products and agronomic tools, Roe’s project looked at how to maximize nitrogen in manure and optimize nutrient programs to improve crop performance and nutrient efficiency. His willingness to learn, take initiative and help wherever needed made a lasting impact on both the team and customers.

The 2026 Northern Business Unit intern class was comprised of 8 students from universities across the East Coast. The scholarship award is designed to encourage creativity, innovation and hard work among the intern team and assist with college expenses. Helena’s Eastern Business Unit consists of Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, Wisconsin and portions of Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming.
